Employment and the Financial Crisis
Because of the current financial crisis that is felt the world over, employment has turned into an even more precious and difficult to attain necessity for most people. Being a business owner, the issue of unemployment may not directly affect you because you are your own boss and you are hardly at the risk of getting fired (by yourself); however, being a “boss” makes you involved in the whole sordid affair as well.
The greatest issue is: will you be dealing great changes regarding the employment status of your crew?
Some opt to address this question with negative responses, sentencing lay offs to their work force… not a wise business move in the long run. The bad thing about this, aside from being an agent that adds up to the growing number of unemployed individuals, this only affords a momentary relief to your company’s finances.
The positive response to the question entails some obvious disadvantages; the cost of labor could kill your company if it fails to earn enough to sustain you and your workers… So be wise in making these changes. Should you choose to keep your people make sure to keep only those who add up to the productivity of your business.
